| Scott Simon is without question the best-liked person on NPR, admired and looked up to by his professional colleagues and trusted by the audience. He is as nice a guy as he seems to be on the air--and is also the Man of a Thousand Voices. Scott is a serious reporter and newsman, but he loves to play. Doing Chinwag Theater gave him a chance to indulge that side of his personality, and not have to follow it with an earthquake story. Daniel Pinkwater completely enjoyed working with him, and could only imagine reading kids' stories with Walter Cronkite, or maybe Senator Strom Thurmond as possibly being as much fun. Scott is the author of a best-selling book: Home and Away, Memoirs of a Fan. |
